The h-ALO sensor is unique through its simultaneous detection of microbiological and chemical contaminants in a broad number of different farm-to-fork agri-food chains. The overall h-ALO system will be portable on-site, easy-to-use, fast-responding and adaptable on use in farms, craft producers, food processing facilities and retail markets.
h-ALO sensor key features
- highly integrated organic/hybrid photonic components as light-source and photodetector;
- nanoplasmonic biofunctionalized surface assessing innovative multimodal optical transduction;
- innovative aptamer- and immunoassay-based bio-recognition elements for multiplexing;
- a smart microsieve membrane for analyte pre-concentration.
The h-ALO sensor is designed as an integrative system which allocates:
- a disposable, contaminant-free, cartridge for analyte pre-selection, concentration, and treatment;
- a re-usable cartridge for detection that can be reused up to 100 times: completely new compact solution performing a multimodal photonic detection based on Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) and Plasmonics Enhanced Fluorescence (PEF) by exploiting a single reusable nanoplasmonic biofunctionalized sensing surface in a backscattering configuration.
